The Gotterdammerung goes further, for example, with a compact engine, torso-mounted cockpit, and head-mounted weapon. But there are truer zombies out there, if that’s what you’re after. ![]() The weapons placement in combination with the SFE and compact gyro make the Inferno a bit of a zombie. Doesn’t always work out in practice as torso armor must be divided between front and rear and faster opponents can take advantage of side or rear hit location tables. Ostensibly, these weapons should last longer as the torso is more heavily armored than the arms. The Inferno is like an omnified Gotterdammerung-lite in that it uses a compact component (gyro) to free up space in the torso for weapons. So what does everyone think? Are they as confused as I am? The only option with the new fancy Clan-Tech laser weapons is the R, but at 2,360 BV it's hard to imagine taking that over options like the MAD-9D or newer 11D. The only thing that stands out to me is that the Prime is a nice low BV option for a heavy Omni: 1577. Which brings me to the why: with all these heavy options, did they really need another heavy Omni? ![]() It also produces the Warhammer heavy mech-although we can assume it is the old PP WHM-8D or 8D2 and not the newer ones from Rec Guide 7. The thing that really confuses my noodle is that Crofton already produces the BlackHawk-KU, Avatar, and Sunder OmniMechs. ![]() Instead of saying 'guns, speed, and armor, pick 2' it seems the team at StarCorps industries on Crofton said "nah, that's too easy, we'll just pick one." It isn't fast, it is armored fine, and it doesn't have a lot of firepower. I actually like the compact gyro conceptually-but we're looking a 29 ton payload-which is pretty small for 3145 heavy mechs. I'm looking at a 75 ton frame, with no XL or Light Fusion Engine and a Compact Gyro. I'm trying to wrap me head around the 'what' and 'why' of the Inferno Omnimech.įor the what, this is the new Federated Suns Omni produced on Crofton, featured in Rec Guide 9.
